Both automate actions, but they work differently. Automation Rules handle high-volume "if-then" logic and accumulation, like "give 1 point for every 100 bets," and can execute thousands of actions in seconds without the Journey Builder. Campaigns use the visual Journey Builder for multi-step journeys with messaging, delays, and branching. The rule of thumb: use Automation Rules for simple, high-frequency actions, and Campaigns when the scenario is too complex for a rule.
Any event defined in the system can be an entry trigger, including deposit approved, login, logout, withdrawal, casino or sports bets, account status change, mission completed, level completed, or a custom client action. You can layer additional conditions and a target segment on top, so a campaign only fires for the specific players and circumstances you choose.
Entry mode sets the re-entry rule. "Once in a lifetime" suits flows like a registration or second-deposit journey. "Once during open journey" prevents re-entry while a player is still in the flow, useful for capping a daily popup. "Every time conditions are met" lets a player enter repeatedly, even in parallel instances, ideal for an SMS after every deposit. "Stop and Start" restarts the journey and terminates the previous instance when conditions recur.
Yes, and this is central to how Smartico works. Inside a single flow you can award or deduct points, gems, and diamonds, give bonuses (including amounts calculated dynamically from a player's own activity), assign missions and mini-games, hand out raffle tickets, change levels, and trigger prize drops, alongside the communication steps. The reward and the message live in the same journey rather than separate tools.
Smartico uses control groups: you hold back a defined percentage of eligible players and measure how they perform against a conversion rule (for example, "deposit approved") versus players who went through the campaign. A "sticky" control group keeps the same players out across repeat entries for cleaner measurement. Funnel steps and conversion activities let you track progression through a journey in the BI reports.
Yes. A webhook (API call) activity can send HTTP requests to external systems at any point in a flow, for example notifying your platform when a player levels up. There are also activities to email your risk or support teams when conditions are met, send a Slack alert, and run custom JavaScript on the player's front end. Messages can additionally be triggered through the REST API for transactional sends.
It depends on the activity type. Offline channels like email, SMS, push, WhatsApp, Viber, and Telegram send regardless of whether the player is online. Smartico connects natively to major gateways out of the box (over 20 email providers like SendGrid and Mailgun, over 80 SMS providers like Twilio), and offers its own SmartWay mail gateway. If you already have a preferred provider, it can usually be configured or added; if you'd rather manage delivery yourself, custom gateways are supported via API.
