New Jersey Sets Record with $6.3 Billion in Gambling Revenue for 2025

In a remarkable year for the gambling industry, New Jersey achieved a record-breaking $6.30 billion in revenue for 2025. This figure represents a 9.0% increase from the previous year's record of $5.78 billion, according to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE). The growth was driven primarily by significant gains in the iGaming and sports betting sectors, while land-based casinos experienced a slight decline.

iGaming was the star performer in 2025, with revenue soaring by 24% to reach $2.39 billion. This surge brought iGaming close to surpassing land-based casinos, which generated $2.82 billion. The majority of iGaming revenue, $2.36 billion, came from online slots and table games, marking a 24.5% year-on-year increase. However, peer-to-peer poker revenue saw a slight dip of 1.5% to $28.5 million.
Top iGaming Operators:
- DraftKings and Resorts Casino Hotel led the iGaming sector with $515 million in revenue.
- FanDuel and Golden Nugget Atlantic City followed closely with $506.6 million.
- BetMGM and Borgata secured third place with $287.7 million.
Golden Nugget emerged as the leading master licensee, generating $688.9 million in iGaming revenue, with several operators operating under its license.
Sports Betting: Another Record Year
Sports betting in New Jersey also set a new record, with revenue increasing by 8.7% to $1.09 billion. The total handle for sports betting reached an all-time high of $12.77 billion, a 6.7% increase, with $12.27 billion coming from online wagers and $499.2 million from retail.
Top Sports Betting Operators:
- FanDuel took the top spot with $459.4 million in revenue.
- DraftKings and Resorts Casino Hotel placed second with $289.1 million.
- BetMGM and Borgata were third with $70.7 million.
Land-Based Casinos: A Slight Decline
Despite being the largest source of gambling revenue, land-based casinos saw a 1.1% decline to $2.82 billion. Physical slot machine revenue fell by 0.7% to $2.10 billion, and table games revenue decreased by 2.0% to $721 million.
Top Land-Based Casinos:
- MGM’s Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa led with $738.1 million in revenue.
- Hard Rock Hotel & Casino was second with $544.9 million.
- Ocean Resort Casino ranked third with $409.7 million.
December Performance
In December, total gambling revenue in New Jersey was $522.6 million, a marginal increase of 0.1% from the previous year. iGaming continued its strong performance, setting another record with $228.0 million in revenue, up 26.5% from the previous year. Sports betting revenue, however, dropped significantly due to customer-friendly sports results, falling 42.6% to $62.8 million. Land-based casino revenue remained largely flat, decreasing by 0.3% to $231.8 million.
Overall, 2025 marked a pivotal year for New Jersey's gambling industry, with iGaming and sports betting driving growth and setting the stage for potential shifts in the market's dynamics in the future.
