US Online Casinos Generate $868.6 Million in April 2025

The regulated online casino sector in the United States reported $868.6 million in revenue for April 2025, reflecting robust growth across the seven states where online gambling is legal. Each state recorded at least a 25% revenue increase compared to April 2024, with a collective growth rate of 32.5%, adding $213 million to the industry’s coffers. This performance follows a record-breaking March 2025, when revenues exceeded $900 million. Connecticut, in particular, set a new state record for the second consecutive month.

Sustained Growth in 2025

The total amount wagered in April reached $10.2 billion, though this figure excludes monthly loss data from Michigan and New Jersey. Pennsylvania led with $7.5 billion in wagers, while Connecticut handled $1.6 billion, maintaining this level for the third time in four months.

Taxable revenue for operators totaled $787.9 million, contributing $169.3 million in state taxes—a $43.9 million increase from April 2024. These figures do not account for local taxes or transfers to tribal communities.

Market Leaders Strengthen Their Position

In Connecticut, DraftKings and FanDuel continue to dominate the online casino market. DraftKings invested heavily in promotions, spending $11 million in April, its second month of eight-figure promotional budgets. This strategy, combined with strong performance in virtual games and slots, boosted its market share to 3.9%. The company achieved a record gross revenue of $31.6 million, a 38.3% year-over-year increase, surpassing its previous high of $28.4 million set in March.

FanDuel also set a new state record with $29.2 million in gross winnings, though its growth was modest, up just $30,000 from March. Its year-over-year growth reached an impressive 57.6%. FanDuel’s promotional spending exceeded $6 million for the fifth straight month, though it remained below 1% of the total wagered volume.

Together, the two operators generated $61 million in winnings, a 47% increase from the previous year, while the total wagered volume in Connecticut grew 23.1% to $1.6 billion.
